Chelsea Olender

Honors Research Assistant
2022-2024

Chelsea was a CDIS major who worked on annotations and thematic analysis through honors courses and as a summer research assistant. She started in Spring 2022, became the Annotation Manager in Spring 2023, and then the Thematic Analysis Manager in Fall 2023. Before graduating and heading to TCU for grad school, Chelsea was recognized as our department's 2024 Outstanding Senior.

"During my time at Oklahoma State University, I have devoted my time to researching individuals in the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. I have led both the thematic analysis and annotation team. While working on this project, I have learned so much about the importance of Deaf culture and what it means to be a Deaf individual. The DXDX project has exposed me to inspiring stories about those who have hearing loss. These are stories that I will take with me as I continue my education at Texas Christian University and into my future career as a professional SLP. I feel so grateful to have been part of this project while receiving my undergraduate degree at OSU and have made countless memories that I will cherish forever."
