"I took a course in Deaf Communication and Education my freshman year of college and soon became interested in Deaf culture and the connections it has to the speech pathology field. By taking CSD and ASL/Deaf culture courses simultaneously, I have come to know the differing thoughts and perspectives on both speech therapy and hearing loss. I joined the project to further my knowledge about DHH (d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing) experiences to better advocate for DHH clients and educate others in my future field of work as a speech-language pathologist. I am grateful to have been a part of this project to learn more about the DHH community and connect with other students with similar passions as me. It has been a privilege to listen to these individuals' journeys with hearing loss and being entrusted to share their experiences with others.
