Lynn Pasual12/6/2021 Honors Research Assistant 2021 Lynn was a CDIS major with a minor in Spanish. She worked on the Deaf Experience, Deaf Expression (DXDX) Project in Spring and Fall 2021 honors courses. As one of the first DXDX student assistants, she worked on several tasks, including interviewing, annotating, and scheduling. "I joined this project because I am interested in working in the field of speech pathology and I love talking to people about their hearing loss experiences. Through this project, I wanted to gain a better perspective about what future prospects I would be working with, but also make stronger connections to my classmates by working with them on this project. The people that I've interviewed have said that cochlear implants are life-changing and have given them a better outlook on life. Their positive mentality and determination to grasp every single blessing are truly inspiring to me. Their experiences have allowed me to learn what they have to go through and how a strong support system is an important factor in overcoming those hardships. I feel grateful that this opportunity was available for me to connect with classmates with the same major and meet people whose quality of life has improved from obtaining a cochlear implant."
