Lynnen was a CDIS major working on thematic analysis for the Deaf Experience, Deaf Expression (DXDX) project. She joined the lab as a senior in Fall 2023 and graduated in 2024 before heading to Tulsa for grad school.

"This research project has allowed me to gain firsthand knowledge on the decisions, emotions, and experiences that individuals in the d/Deaf/hard of hearing community encounter and navigate on a daily basis. Not only has this increased my awareness, but it has also created a deeper level of empathy for individuals facing these barriers. DXDX has equipped me to be more respectful, attentive, and validating towards individuals with hearing loss and their culture. Overall, it has been so rewarding and motivating to know that this research will help newly diagnosed individuals and their families when making major life decisions."
