Mary Vang

McNair Scholar

Mary was an honors CDIS major and McNair Scholar who worked on recruiting, interviewing, captioning, thematic analysis, and presenting results for the Deaf Experience, Deaf Expression (DXDX) project from Fall 2021 to Spring 2023. Her honors thesis was funded by an ASHA SPARC award to examine second-generation Hmong Americans' self-perceptions of their second-language English skills. Mary was also named an OSU College of Arts and Sciences Top 10 Senior, and she won the CDIS Departmental Undergraduate Research Recognition award. She graduated in 2023 and headed to the University of Colorado at Boulder to begin her graduate studies.
